Ally Nolan has completed a Joint Major in Fashion Design & History of Art at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, Ireland.
Her primary interest lies in how new technologies can be embraced and integrated into fashion design. Her work aims to marry the old with the new; combining labour-intensive needlework, beading, and textile manipulation with 3D printing and laser cutting. In turn, establishing a hybrid design approach combining hand and digital craft.
She has recently completed a design and technology residency at the Festival of Curiosity where her piece consisting of 800 hand sewn laser cut petals was awarded the overall Future Fashion Award.
She currently splits her time between concluding her studies at Trinity College Dublin in the Irish Art History Masters Programme and designing her new collection, which will continue to explore how fashion and technology can be merged.
