Acrylic, digitally printed organza, Irish linen, Irish wool, neoprene and canvas, combined with sashiko hand embroidery, fabric appliqué and laser cutting.
Based on Thomas H. Mason’s photograph Four Aran Men, Inis Meáin, from the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, this large-scale textile work explores cultural identity through Irish dress and labour traditions. It invites reflection on whose stories textiles carry, and how traditions can be critically honoured and reinterpreted.
Winner of the RCSI Art Award 2025 in association with the RHA Gallery and The Irish Times.
Featured on the 2026 Leaving Certificate Higher Level Art examination paper.
